The Hawke’s Bay Chamber team is still fizzing after Friday’s Young Enterprise Kickstart event!
220 year 12 & 13 students from across a number of secondary schools in Hawke’s Bay attended Kickstart along with their teachers at Te Uranga Waka, EIT.
A big shout out to the 40 or so business coaches from the Hawke’s Bay business community, who gave up a couple of hours of their day to come with a handful of teams and discuss the team’s business idea.
The role of a business coach is to help guide teams in the right direction at the beginning stages of their business. This might be by connecting them with people in a particular industry or just listening and offering advice for the many challenges the early stages of starting a business can present.
Kickstart is an introduction to Young Enterprise, giving students the opportunity to team up with fellow students and come up with amazing business ideas that they will implement throughout the year.
Just like a real business, teams assign roles, create the product, take it to market, make real sales, manage funds and embrace all the exciting challenges along the way.
The best piece of advice of the day was around failure and how it’s really not that big of a deal!
