Back in August 2019, Air Napier hosted a Chamber of Commerce Business After Five, which I attended.
They were excellent hosts providing yummy Nibbles, fine Hawke’s Bay Wines and Beer.
Guests were given a great insight into their Business and a look at and sit in some of the Aeroplanes. There was a Business Card draw and luckily my card was chosen, with a prize of a Scenic Flight for up to three people.
I offered to take my daughter as a birthday present, but she refused as she was concerned about motion sickness and her sensitivity to this.
My Partner Annie had her Brother and Sister-in-law visiting from the Netherlands, so this seemed an excellent opportunity to show them more Hawkes Bay from the Air. Sadly Annie was working on the only day they had available so she couldn’t go, insisting I accompany them to point out the sights…
On arrival at Air Napier, we were briefed on what to expect and led to the single-engine Cherokee Six plane, donned earmuffs and seatbelts, then taxied out and took off heading north over Westshore before turning back over Ahuriri, circling the Port and following the Coast to Cape Kidnappers. We clearly saw the Gannet Colony and heading back observed Golfers and many sightseers on Te Mata Peak. The views were excellent, and our Pilot gave a good commentary too. Below is a small selection of the photos I took.
I wish to thank The Chamber and Air Napier for this wonderful prize. Our international guests were over the moon and sent great photos back to Family and friends in the Netherlands.
I thoroughly recommend an Air Napier Scenic flight should you have guests visiting Hawke’s Bay or just as a present for your family or friends. It is a totally different view of the Bay from above!
