The COVID-19 Wage Subsidy August 2021 is paid in two-week amounts, with a new application needed for each round.
The first round was due to close at 11.59 pm on Thursday 2 September, with the second round opening at 9am Friday 3 September.
Unfortunately, there were some issues on Thursday evening and Work and Income’s website was unable to take wage subsidy applications for a two hour period from 8pm until 10pm.
In fairness to those who tried to apply over this time we made the decision to extend the application period from the original close off time of 11.59pm, out to 7am Friday 3 September. We’re working through the process to deal with people who feel they have missed out because of this.
This issue was the result of human error while work was happening on the website in preparation for opening of the next iteration of the wage subsidy scheme. We’re sorry about this.
Initial applications still being processed
We’re very aware that there are still applications for the initial wage subsidy that are being processed. We’re still working very hard to clear all these.
COVID-19 Wage Subsidy August 2021 #2 now open
Applications for Wage Subsidy #2 opened as planned at 9am Friday 3 September.
Businesses that applied for the initial Wage Subsidy August 2021 payment and who meet all the eligibility criteria for Wage Subsidy #2, can apply for another wage subsidy payment two weeks after their previous application.
Early applications can’t be accepted as each payment is for two weeks.
To ensure payments are processed as quickly as possible, it’s very important the information provided in the application matches that held by Inland Revenue. If the information doesn’t match, it may delay the processing of an application.
