The HB Chamber welcomed a guest speaker to open the AGM, Chuck Dowdell, Director of Rocket Lab Launch Complex 1, on the Mahia Peninsula. Chuck spoke to his many and various successes in project managing the construction of Launch Complex 1, the construction of a second launch pad, technological advances that fuel Rocket Lab’s mission to open up access to space and Rocket Lab’s market leading position in small satellite launch.
President of the Board, David Trim, highlighted the hard work and dedication that the Chamber team put in to ensure that businesses in our region were well supported as the pandemic unfolded. The team worked tirelessly through Hawke’s Bay’s lockdown period on building the Be in the Bay platform that would ultimately form a significant database of local businesses. This platform, coupled with regular personal check-ins with members, showed the region how much the Chamber cares about the success of local enterprise.
Five of the seven existing board members were up for re-election, we received more nominations than available positions, so a voting process ensued. Ross McMillan, Dean Sewell, David Trim and Vaughan Walsh were reinstated as board members, with newcomer Carol McMillan joining the ranks.
