Last week some of the Chamber team made their way down to Wellington to celebrate the Young Enterprise National Awards.  We took with us, the Hawke’s Bay regional winner – HBRP Give & Take and Sam Wixon  of Te Kete O Tangaroa, from Havelock North High School.

HBRP Give and Take pitched to a panel six judges, some of whom included the CFO of popular toy company Zuru, the managing director of BP and representatives from other industries such as banking, seafood, investment, and finance.

The boys pitched against 21 other teams from around New Zealand, all presenting a high calibre of products and services.  Give & Take delivered a polished pitch that was very heartfelt, they should be extremely be proud of how the represented Hawke’s Bay.  Give & Take created Fit 2 Go care packs from recycled materials, making a difference for rough sleepers around Hawke’s Bay.

HBRP did not place on the night but did receive the Ministry of Youth Development Award for Resilience.

Sam Wixon (Te Kete O Tangaroa) received not one… but two National Excellence Awards for developing an alternative to polystyrene bins used in the fisheries industry in a bid to reduce pollution.  Sam received a national excellence Award for Rangitahi Entrepreneurship and the HSBC Award for Environmental Sustainability.

Well done to HBRP Give & Take Team and Sam Wixon of Te Kete O Tangaroa, what an incredible achievement.

All teams have worked incredibly hard this year, under trying circumstances and the Hawke’s Bay Chamber of Commerce are looking forward to an exciting YES 2021 year and cant wait to meet all the new students and hear about their exciting new business ideas.
